I am registering a vehicle for the first time. Is automobile insurance mandatory?

View More FAQ Videos

Yes, in Florida certain automobile insurance is mandatory. The State of Florida though, only requires personal injury protection coverage property damage coverage. Florida does not require bodily injury coverage which would protect you if you injure another or uninsured motorist coverage which would protect you if someone else injures you or a family member. It’s important to get these coverages even though they are not required by the State.
